Art:21 Transformation Reaction

         Cindy Sherman has transformed herself into hundreds of different characters. She used her experiences in life and her knowledge to create unique artworks. Cindy Sherman has transformed her ideas in life to find herself as an artist. She switched majors from painting to photography. She began making her "Untitled Film Stills" in 1977, the year after she graduated from university. She photographs herself in various scenes and appearance, making amazing portraits of her history.

Illustrate a Story

        This drawn  picture  shows  the New London School  before and after the explosion occurred on March 18, 1937, when a natural gas leak caused an explosion, destroying the  new London School in the state of Texas. The disaster killed more than295 students and teachers.

MoMA PS1: The Good, the Bad and the Misunderstood

       last Monday we went to the  MoMA PS1 for  our second field trip . It was a very interesting trip, the museum had many excellent art works. We discovered some new art work that we didn't see in the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. For instance, the Golden Ghost by Surasi Kusolwong was one of the art works that i liked the most. The artwork by Clifford Owens was the one that I couldn't understand, and Acrylic on Canvas by Henry Taylor was the one I disliked.

       The Golden Ghost by Surasi Kusolowong caught my eyes while I was walking around the museum. It looked very nice  from the top. I saw many colored files of cotton creating an comparable art work. I liked this art work because, it was wonderful to hop around in these fibers. It took restraint not to just throw my shoes off and dive in. I did not find any treasure, but I did enjoy laying on the top of all that material. If you go be sure to do a trust fall, just stand up and let yourself collapse backwards into the material. It feels amazing.


          The art work ( Anthology) by Clifford Owens was one of the pieces that I didn't  understand. He does a visual art performance. I had difficulty understanding most of his work. For example i didn't understand why he was cutting fruit and throwing it to the wall. Generally i didn't understand some of his action, even thought I am  sure that he has his own explanation and meaning behind these work.

                           

       Henry Taylor had many good pieces. He used color high contrast color, in order to express his ideas. However, i did not like one  of his art works that is shown in the picture below. I disliked this work for two reasons: first reason is that he showed someone enjoying  his cigarette on the left side of the picture. I think the artist should use his work to help people quite smoking instead. The second reason is that he showed a big  plate of pasta  in the middle of his work, that will encourage people to eat more pasta which is cause obesity.

      Finally, I would like to thank our professor for giving  the 
opportunity to visit new York museum.  I learned a lot about art even in short time. The field trip to MoMA PS1 was  fun and breathtaking, i discovered  more art work that has different aspects. I am very excited that we will see more museum this semester, also i would like to go one more time to the previous museum.

Art and Identity: The Museum of Modern Art

        On a recent visit to the Museum of modern Art (MoMA), I took a tour of the museum, during the tour to discover the works from the contemporary gallery exhibit that showed works from the 1980s to now and the Cindy Sherman exhibit. This museum has a great variety of different collections. I found three pieces of art that expressed a sense of personal, cultural and historical identity.
     
        The first piece of art that caught my eyes is the portrait of Cindy Sherman. She used personal photos to express herself. Cindy adopts several roles and identities depending on their conditions. Her work encourages self-reflection in the spectator. In the 1980s, Sherman introduced bright light and high-contrast color to her work. Moving away from established female stereotypes seen in the Untitled Film Stills series, she begins to deal with topics such as eating disorders, madness and death, focusing on the consequences of society’s stereotyped roles for women rather than upon the roles themselves.
     

       The second piece of art that I have chosen is related to cultural identity by the American artist Andrea Zittel that she was born in California in 1965. She is most closely associated with the remarkable ideal structures she calls living systems, which, in different ways, explore what we humans need for our survival. Andrea Zittel’s projects are deeply rooted in her own everyday life and her work explores into many different fields such as architecture, painting, photography, design, textiles, needlework and cooking. The” wall sprawl” expresses Zittel’s view of human progress as a rapid takeover of the natural, and the changing cultural background of the West.

      
        The third piece was about the historical identity, for this matter I have chosen an art work by George Condo. He studied Art History and Music Theory at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. The first public exhibitions of his work took place in New York City at various East Village galleries in 1981.She uses color illustration  in her art work and  as an artist Andrea  has engaged vigorously with design, and architecture.
       

      In conclusions, these three artists create different art work, using different ideas.Which make audience use their imagination to understand the deep meaning behind their art work, and receive the artist’s ideas about personal, historical and cultural identity in the contemporary society.

Narrative Digital Collage

This collage shows Morocco’s culture and tradition in Sahara desert. Berber folklore (folk dance), eating (tagine) and drinking of mint tea are truly a cultural tradition in Morocco.  Many people from all over world come to visit Moroccan Sahara to enjoy a traditional camel ride, and the sweet –cool night air and the silence of the desert.

A good Art is an art that has a positive impact on people. Good art helps us to explore what we cannot see or view before. Art also helps us to understand each other, when we learn about other cultures. For example one picture can change the world and make us think deeply to understand the real meaning behind it.

Bad art is the one that not have the entire requirement needed to be a good art. For example when some artist use their imagination in a bad way, such as draw a picture that shows how some people are better than the others, because they have different belief.

Rainbow sunset

This picture shows the beauty of multicolor in the sky during the sunset. This natural phenomenal usually happened after a rainy day followed by a sun.
